Background
My interest in food and agriculture is the result of my being raised on a small farm in Central Utah and experiences gained through youth programs such as the 4H and FFA. I studied agricultural economics at Utah State University where I received my BS and MS degrees. After this, I attended the University of Minnesota and received my PhD in agricultural and applied economics with a minor in business administration. I joined the University of Arkansas in 1998 where I teach a junior level agricultural marketing class and an agribusiness strategy course in the MS program. My research emphasizes consumer demand and food policy, particularly with respect to food safety.
